To help it achieve its ultimate goal of increasing the percentage of women GCs in the Fortune 500 from 22% in 2015 to 35% in 2020, WIHCL is holding regional one-day workshops in 9 cities across the United States in 2018 geared toward professional development (see side box). Through these workshops, women in corporate legal departments can take advantage of WIHCL’s integrated series of programs to expand their skills, improve their competencies, develop their networks, and advance their careers.

Each workshop runs from 8 AM to 5 PM, after which the group breaks for cocktails and dinner. Participants — both women general counsel and people who sit on the boards of major publicly traded companies — spend most of the day in small breakout sessions where they work through a case study. This case study, developed specifically for the workshops, will focus on these competencies: leadership styles; team building; and financial acumen. Further networking occurs over breakfast and lunch.
